Fox News: Media erupts over Trump comments on disinfectant
I think there's some validity in "Donald Trump's" statement about drinking or injecting a disinfectant. Hell, maybe some scientists will start working on this and start with grain alcohol. The disinfectant just has to be non toxic to the human body like "Grain Alcohol" is.
I hope I don't create many alcoholics with this article. What a shame but actually our president "Donald Trump" may have touched upon an idea. The Coronavirus can enter the bloodstream and damage a persons internal organs so the idea of injecting a disinfectant into the body isn't out there in la la land. Actually the truth is that "Grain Alcohol (Ethanol)" that is in beer, wine, whiskey and other spirits is an "Antiseptic". It's been proven that "Ethanol" can kill germs so, "BOTTOMS UP"! I drink wine everyday so I've been doing what "Donald Trump" made light of for years.
Articles I've read state in order for grain alcohol to be a really effective disinfectant a 70 or 80 proof bottle of spirits would have to be used directly on the bacteria or virus. Lower proof spirits may not be as strong on viruses outside the body or in but may still have some minor effect on viruses inside a persons bloodstream since the alcohol is still alcohol when ingested.
Quote: Ethyl alcohol, widely known as ethanol, grain alcohol or drinking alcohol, is found in alcoholic beverages. It's colorless, flammable and—when denatured (think: chemicals added to discourage recreational consumption)—can be used as a fuel additive or topical antiseptic. Ethanol is the scientific name for the intoxicating agent produced when sugar is fermented by yeast. Even though you can drink ethanol when diluted, it's not completely foolproof.
According to the Alcohol Content Database, alcoholic beverages have the following concentration of alcohol:
