This is an old article but it still has teeth and is an ongoing issue. This healthcare issue was ongoing between Jan. and July of 2017. The Republican Party not as a whole was pushing for "Repeal and Replace of obamacare. Rand Paul and Ted Cruz were pushing for a full repeal of obamacare without replace. Donald Trump wanted to Block Grant Medicare money to the states so the states would have full control of all the healthcare just like Medicaid leaving the federal government with only an oversight function.
The libertarians Ted Cruz and Rand Paul were the "Never Trump" leaders rebelling against any kind of plan to fix healthcare democrat or Republican. Obamacare does have a mandate in it to expand Medicaid and I supported this expansion that Cruz and Paul rejected. Medicaid and obamacare are separate entities that you will read about below.
All I get from the libertarians is "healthcare isn't in the U.S. Constitution so if poor people want to live they will have to pay for their own healthcare no matter how expensive healthcare gets from us flooding the U.S. with poor immigrants. I myself do not support letting any U.S. Citizen go without healthcare because they can't afford it.

"True", Ted Cruz and Rand Paul have always supported some form of amnesty and open borders that has driven up healthcare costs and created a shortage of doctors and nurses. If a replacement healthcare law goes through like expanding medicaid as outlined by obamacare with restrictions on illegal aliens the aliens would be forced out of any kind of taxpayer funded healthcare and have to go home or pay for it themselves. Illegal aliens exiting the U.S. is against the libertarian republican and communist democrat agenda of globalization.
The libertarian republicans are not at odds with the democrats on having a large government controlled everything but they are at odds with the democrats over if business or government will control the everything. Either which one means more immigrants will pour over the border.
I myself do support some forms of government healthcare payments like Medicare and Medicaid that are already in existence for the people that need it. The Medicaid expansion mandated in obamacare is not bad. If there's not some kind of government healthcare structure for low wage people by the Republicans the democrats keep winning and introducing communism. Communism is slowly but surely being installed by the democrats over the decades each time the Republican party sits on their thumbs.
The Republicans wouldn't expand Medicaid because they said it would expand obamacare. Healthcare is a big deal the democrats win on over and over again and if the Republicans do not build some sort of healthcare structure like supporting Medicaid expansion while destroying obamacare the democrats will always come close to winning and even win.
Obamacare just pushed for the expansion of Medicaid and was NOT obamacare. Medicaid is a state deal and obamacare is federal. The federal government just funds Medicaid and the states enact it.
When some of the states started expanding Medicaid I wanted Medicaid to be expanded even though it was an obamacare mandate because it would be a push back on obamacare. Yes, the obamacare mandate to expand Medicaid is obamacares own destruction. Putting disadvantage people on Medicaid gives obamacare users to the states depleting obamacare users instead of increasing them.
The Republicans could have pushed people into Medicaid leaving obamacare useless. I guess the Republicans were under the impression the democrats were going to win again pushing medicaid into obamacare. The problem with pushing Medicaid into obamacare is the democrats would have to have ALL 50 STATES to do that and it just ain't gonna happen! Were the democrats going to have 15 states fully on obamacare with no medicaid and 35 states with medicaid? Were the democrats planning on creating a law that shifted Medicaid funding to obamacare? Could the democrats ever get the majority vote back in the House and Senate with the Presidency to shift Medicaid funding over to obamacare?
The democrats didn't win because the Republican voter base has been getting rid of the libertarian republican rinos that were under the impression the democrats were going to keep winning. The Rinos did not want to fight because they were the Republicans that wanted many things the democrats supported and they were chasing the democrat vote.
Republican support of Medicaid expansion on its own and separate from obamacare will mean many more Republican votes. It's just that simple. As Joe Biden stated, "It's A Big Fck'in Deal" even with independent and Republican voters.

P.S. Illegal aliens are not allowed to get long term Medicaid. Medicaid does pay for illegal alien healthcare if they use the emergency rooms only. Illegal aliens get taxpayer funded healthcare for all anchor baby births and have various other small taxpayer funded secret illegal alien healthcare programs the states funnel federal money into. It's the millions of illegal aliens using the emergency rooms that is driving up healthcare costs for U.S. Citizens. Even though obamacare was written to leave illegal aliens out the democrats will change obamacare to allow illegal aliens to get free healthcare at a later date as their presidential primary candidates openly stated they were going to do.Tea Party Main Street Home
